While summer is still in full swing, it will be over before we know it, and fall will be here! As much as we might not want to think about it, summer vacations will be over soon, and the kids will be going back to school. Before summer is over, take some time to declutter around the house and prepare for fall with our summer decluttering guide!
Kids Items
Set the kids up for success and prepare for the upcoming school year by going through last year's school supplies and clothing. Some school supplies could be broken or unusable, so check to see what items can be used again and what will need to be replaced. Kids grow so quickly, so you'll want to make sure they have everything they need in terms of clothing. Go through their clothes and see which can be donated and what must be thrown away.
Your Wardrobe
In addition to the kids' clothes, your wardrobe may need some decluttering, too! Start storing away sandals, bathing suits, tank tops, and items you might not use in the cooler months. While going through items, take inventory and see what items can be thrown away or kept for next year. In addition, if you work remotely, you can get rid of or donate some of your professional clothing that you will no longer need for the work-from-home life.
Garage
Spend some time in the garage going through your gardening and landscaping tools. You might still need some of those items for the fall, but take inventory of what you have and organize what you plan to keep. Garages tend to be a catch-all area for the kids' toys, so see what items they will no longer use in the fall and see if they can be put in the basement or shed to make room for other things.
Kitchen Pantry & Storage
Fall is the time of year for football season and gathering around the fire pit for get-togethers. Before we know it, the holiday season will be here, meaning lots of cooking and baking. Take time to organize your kitchen, throw away expired food, and donate food you might not use soon.
